ISTE 2011 Award application:

I very much appreciate being considered for this award. I started the Duquesne University Instructional Technology doctorate in 2009 and have been a full-time student there ever since. I will finish in the spring of 2011. Since I am a full-time student, I have needed to take out student loans to complete my education. This award would allow me to attend and present at the ISTE conference and to do important networking with others doing similar work. I have been working in several grant projects that explore professional development for teachers and technology. These include ArtsEducator2.0, WeTEACH, and Art in Action. Before that I taught as an Assistant Professor for five years at Mercyhurst College (Erie, PA) mentoring other faculty members in web2.0 technologies while teaching and directing in the art education program. I also taught k-12 art for 10 years prior to my work at the higher ed. level. I am an active researcher, presenter and advocate for instructional technology at the k-18 levels. My work is documented through my website: Thank you so much for considering me for this award. I very much appreciate it.
